Shapes and Colours
for organ
(1999)

1. Tints of Green
2. Silver and Gray Waves

While writing this piece, I felt that music is an art of abstract sound images that do not require any translation into any other language. Various verbal descriptions may serve only as a metaphor that can perhaps facilitate understanding of music, but by itself is unable to specify the correct path to it. I felt that sound should not necessarily mean anything beyond music (although sometimes it can serve as a symbol), since it has its own, purely sound semantics. The sense, the content of music and its main value lies in sound forms and their combinations. It is higher, celestial world. It is near us, even within us, in our consciousness, and we can escape into it and have a rest - once you want - while listening to musical shapes and colours.
